7875 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: Have any of the ministries, agencies, and/or departments for which the Minister is responsible set budgetary provisions or caps for redundancy payments since 27 November 2023; if so, what were those provisions?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised that WorkSafe New Zealand has two caps on redundancy, in line with their current collective and individual agreements.  Employees have a redundancy cap/maximum severance payment of 12 months of base salary and People Leaders have a redundancy cap of 6 months of base salary. These caps have been in place since before 2023.
