Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: How much time elapsed on average between a staff member’s redundancy date and their start date in a new role for those made redundant in the ministries, agencies, and/or departments for which the Minister is responsible who were subsequently reappointed since 27 November 2023?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised that WorkSafe New Zealand only retains the end date (redundancy date) of their staff and does not hold information regarding staff’s new roles once they have departed.  Please also note that as per the Public Service Act, WorkSafe NZ (a Crown Agency) does not have the same applications as a core Public Service department. For this reason, tracking of redundancies beyond the employee’s employment with WorkSafe NZ does not take place.
