7857 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: Have any of the ministries, agencies, and/or departments for which the Minister is responsible set budgetary provisions or caps for redundancy payments since 27 November 2023; if so, what were those provisions?

Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development that since 27 November 2023 no budgetary provisions or caps for redundancy payments have been set. Redundancy compensation estimates for people in disestablished positions were accrued from the 2023/24 financial year into the 2024/25 financial year, due to some payments being made after 30 June 2024. The redundancy reflects the terms and conditions of the employment agreements.
