Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What process, if any, was employed by the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies to brief the Minister on any savings and their impact on services and functions, as a result of the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service?

Hon Louise Upston: The Ministry of Social Development provided me with a briefing regarding their fiscal sustainability work programme on 29 November 2023. Following this, I have continued to receive advice as part of the Budget 2024 process. Advice from the Independent Children's Monitor on any savings as a result of the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service was also provided as part of Budget 2024 process.
