7801 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Internal Affairs: What process, if any, was employed by the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies to brief the Minister on any savings and their impact on services and functions, as a result of the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service?

Hon Brooke van Velden: On 17 January 2024, I received my first briefing from the Department of Internal Affairs about its proposed approach to the Initial Baseline Exercise. This briefing was copied to the Ministers for Racing, Digitising Government, Local Government, the Community and Voluntary Sector, and the Minister Responsible for Ministerial Services. The Department is continuing to provide advice to Ministers on savings proposals and the potential impacts as part of the Budget 2024 process.
