7785 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for the Environment: Have any of the ministries, agencies, and/or departments for which the Minister is responsible set budgetary provisions or caps for redundancy payments since 27 November 2023; if so, what were those provisions?
Hon Penny Simmonds: I am advised the Ministry for the Environment's redundancy clauses have been in place prior to 27 November 2023. It has a clear cap on redundancy payments. The limit is up to $50,000.00 with various tenure-based assessments in place before the cap is reached.
In June 2024 the Environmental Protection Authority made a redundancy provision of $1.110 million.
Caps on redundancy provisions are provided for in Individual and Collective Employment Agreements. The redundancy cap is subject to a maximum of 26 weeks of base salary.
