7779 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Education: Have any of the ministries, agencies, and/or departments for which the Minister is responsible set budgetary provisions or caps for redundancy payments since 27 November 2023; if so, what were those provisions?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that a redundancy provision of $16.950 million was recognised at 30 June 2024 following the announcement of an organisation-wide restructure. There has been no additional redundancy provision made in the 2024/25 financial year. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority made a restructuring provision of $1.1 million at 30 June 2024. Education New Zealand and the Education Review Office have no set budgetary provision or cap for redundancy compensation.
