Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Customs: How many staff currently employed in the ministries, agencies, and/or departments for which the Minister is responsible have previously received a redundancy payout since 27 November 2023, and how many of these staff are employed in the same or similar roles to their previous roles?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that no staff at the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) have been made redundant by Customs and reappointed to a role in a permanent, fixed-term or contractor capacity since 27 November 2023. This response is inclusive of the staff within the Border Executive Board Secretariat, as these staff are considered to be Customs employees. No staff in the Border Executive Board Secretariat team has received redundancy payments, severance, or other termination packages.
