7761 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Corrections: Have any of the ministries, agencies, and/or departments for which the Minister is responsible set budgetary provisions or caps for redundancy payments since 27 November 2023; if so, what were those provisions?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that since November 2023, there has been one change process at Corrections in which a financial provision was made. I am further advised that Te Ara Whakamua was an organisation wide change with a redundancy provision of $6.445 million for the year ending 30 June 2023. This change was initiated prior to November 2023 but was implemented in April 2024. I am further advised that ultimately no staff were made redundant as a result of this change so none of the budgeted financial provision was spent.
