7737 (2026). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister of Agriculture: What assessment or estimation has he made of the total economic impact on farmers and growers of the medium scale adverse events in Gisborne/Tairāwhiti, Bay of Plenty, and Canterbury, listed by region?

Hon Todd McClay: It is too early to fully assess the potential long-term economic consequences of these events, but for farmers and growers there is immediate support available through the Ministry for Primary Industries’ (MPI) On Farm Support service and Rural Support Trusts.
