Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: I receive regular updates on domestic economic conditions, including on the Government’s programme of steady fiscal consolidation. Fiscal consolidation is supporting lower levels of inflation, lower interest rates, and lower public debt. Had inflation, interest rates, and public debt been higher, households would have been more exposed to external shocks, like the recent conflict in the Middle East.
