7675 (2026). Lan Pham to the Minister of Statistics: What goods and services, if any, in the Consumers Price Index are most impacted by climate change, or weather events?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised by Stats NZ that although it publishes the Consumers Price Index (CPI) and co-produce New Zealand’s official environmental reporting, the information requested is not readily available and would require a customised data request to be completed by Stats NZ. Given the time and expense involved, I do not consider it in the public interest for Stats NZ to produce this within the timeframe required for a Parliamentary Question. The Member is welcome to contact Stats NZ’s Info Centre to arrange the production of this data.
