Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Land Information: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies for which savings have been identified, are any roles set to be disestablished resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service, if so, what percentage of employees who are set to lose their roles are located in the West Coast Region, if any?

Hon Chris Penk: I am advised that these decisions are the responsibility of the Chief Executive. As part of its ongoing operating and fiscal review, Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) is currently undertaking consultation on a proposal to disestablish five roles, subject to consultation with staff and final decisions. LINZ has offices in Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch therefore any disestablished roles would be in one of these three regions.
