Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries: What advice, if any, has he or his office requested on the environmental and social impact of being permitted to catch Australia's uncaught orange roughy quota using bottom-trawling fishing vessels, as proposed by New Zealand at the 2025 annual meeting of the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO)?

Hon Shane Jones: I received advice on the transfer mechanism in the following document: South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation: Thirteenth Commission Meeting Mandate, 12 December 2024. I note that all Members of SPRFMO supported this proposal, including Australia.
