7601 (2025). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister for Infrastructure: What, if any, steps is the government taking to encourage more private sector involvement in contributing project information to the National Infrastructure Pipeline, and how will this influence the National Infrastructure Plan?

Hon Chris Bishop: The National Infrastructure Pipeline provides a central view of infrastructure project activity that is in planning and delivery across New Zealand. Insights from the Pipeline provide the industry with information to help coordinate, prioritise, schedule, and plan their projects and investments. Information in the Pipeline is provided by central government, local government and private sector organisations involved in providing infrastructure services and reflects the current state of their infrastructure planning and investment intentions. As the Minister for Infrastructure, I encourage private sector infrastructure providers to contribute information to the National Infrastructure Pipeline. The Commission is required to maintain the confidentiality of information provided in confidence to the Pipeline. However, the information and the information derived from it represents an important part of the infrastructure system. The information when aggregated provides important insights and context relevant long-term planning and will support the development of the National Infrastructure Plan.
