Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister for Infrastructure: What role, if any, will iwi and Māori organisations play in shaping both the National Infrastructure Plan and the National Infrastructure Pipeline, particularly in terms of contributing to the visibility and prioritisation of regional infrastructure needs?

Hon Chris Bishop: As part of developing the National Infrastructure Plan, the Infrastructure Commission is working to engage with Māori and representative iwi entities across New Zealand. The Infrastructure Commission is also engaging during the development of the National Infrastructure Plan through stakeholder meetings, regional workshops, webinars, and submissions to the National Infrastructure Pipeline and Infrastructure Priorities Programme. The Commission also released a discussion document for public feedback in November 2024. The draft Plan will be released for public feedback in mid-2025.
