7581 (2025). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister for Infrastructure: What is the reason, if any, that certain projects in the National Infrastructure Pipeline are listed without confirmed funding, and what steps are being taken to address this uncertainty?
Hon Chris Bishop: The National Infrastructure Pipeline provides a central view of infrastructure project activity that is in planning and delivery across New Zealand. Insights from the Pipeline provide the industry with information to help coordinate, prioritise, schedule, and plan their projects. Information in the Pipeline is provided by central government, local government and private sector organisations involved in providing infrastructure services and reflects the current state of their infrastructure planning and investment intentions.
Transparency of infrastructure projects in delivery and in planning by these infrastructure providers is important to inform decision-making and promote a coordinated and efficient approach to the delivery infrastructure services across New Zealand. The value of projects reported as funded, part funded, or with a confirmed funding source was $107.9 billion, up $8.1 billion in December 2024.
