7578 (2025). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister for Infrastructure: What is the government’s plan for securing funding for the unfunded projects in the National Infrastructure Pipeline, and what timeline, if any, has been set for this process?
Hon Chris Bishop: The National Infrastructure Pipeline (Pipeline) is New Zealand’s national dataset of infrastructure project information. Information in the Pipeline is provided by central government, local government and private sector organisations involved in providing infrastructure services and reflects the current state of their infrastructure planning and investment intentions. Transparency of infrastructure projects in delivery and in planning by these infrastructure providers is important to inform decision-making and promote a coordinated and efficient approach to the delivery of infrastructure services across New Zealand. The Pipeline is an information tool and not a funding tool and, as such, it does not set timeframes or processes for securing funding for projects in the Pipeline. Contributing organisations will secure funding for their projects based on their prioritisation and investment processes.
