Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Associate Minister of Justice: How many more people (if any) is it anticipated would be authorised to possess and use a centrefire semi automatic rifle if this was permitted for the purposes of sport shooting as part of the minister's review / rewrite of the Arms Act?

Hon Nicole McKee: This Government has committed to a review and rewrite of the Arms Act. As part of that review, I will be considering the licencing system including which types of firearms would be permitted for the purposes of sport shooting. I will be considering advice on the licensing settings including endorsements in due course.
