7531 (2025). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister for Trade and Investment: What comments, if any, has the European Commission made as to the importance of ensuring the objective of the Paris Agreement is respected as an essential element of the NZ-EU FTA?

Hon Todd McClay: I am advised that discussions between European Commission officials and New Zealand officials about the interpretation of the NZ-EU FTA are shared in confidence and comments on specific provisions, if any, are confidential to the European Commission and the New Zealand Government. In respect of my discussions on New Zealand’s commitment to our obligation they have been warmly received by the European Commission.
