7482 (2024). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Oceans and Fisheries: What percentage of vessels within the Southern Squid Trawl Fishery (SQU 6T), if any, have been fitted with cameras; what percentage of the footage, if any, from these cameras has been reviewed to date?

Hon Shane Jones: I am advised that no vessels within the Southern Squid Trawl Fishery (SQU 6T) have been fitted with cameras therefore there is no footage to review. Vessels participating in the fishery are over 32 metres in length so are not part of the rollout of cameras on fishing vessels. I note that this fishery has a high level of coverage by Fisheries New Zealand observers.
