7471 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: What action, if any, has he taken to progress his priority to grow timely access to mental health?

Hon Matt Doocey: I announced on 20 March 2024 that Peer Support Specialists would be trialled in emergency departments. This new mental health and addiction peer support service will be set up to ensure that those people who present to Emergency Departments experiencing mental health issues are seen in a timely manner and get the support they need. This initiative will be trialled in large regional hospital EDs over the next two years.
