7443 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: How many Kāinga Ora tenants were charged for appliance or chattel replacements due to fair wear and tear in each of the financial years 2022/23, 2023/24, 2024/25, and 2025/26?

Hon Tama Potaka: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it should not charge a tenant for appliances or chattels that are replaced due to fair wear and tear. In instances where a tenant may be incorrectly charged for replacement of an appliance or chattel, Kāinga Ora will discuss this with the tenant and reverse/remove any such charge.
