7416 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Justice: Was a selection panel set up to consider applicants for the role of Law Commission President around the time that Professor Amokura Kawharu was appointed, and if so, who was on the selection panel?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: That appointment was made under a previous government. I am advised by my officials that the Justice Minister of that time did set up a selection panel comprised of a Judge of the Supreme Court, the Secretary for Justice and the Solicitor-General.
