7412 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: How many, if any, of the building projects she has announced since July 1st 2024 had previously been paused following the value-for-money review by the Ministry of Education; expressed as a list?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that six of the school property projects announced since 1 July 2024 had previously been paused following the value-for-money review.
These were projects that were identified as having been announced by the previous governent, but none were funded for construction when they were paused as part of the value-for-money review. The value-for-money review allowed us to reduce the cost of building to enable us to undertake more projects.
These were:
• Orewa College, Auckland (due to roll growth)
• Papakura Intermediate, Auckland (due to roll growth)
• Papakura Normal School, Auckland (due to roll growth)
• Papatoetoe Central School, Auckland (due to roll growth)
• Scott Point Primary School, Auckland (due to new school expansion)
• TKKM o Whakarewa I Te Reo Ki Tuwharetoa, Waiariki (due to roll growth).
