7410 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Conservation: What has caused the delay to the advice on Hākaimangō-Matiatia (Northwest Waiheke) marine reserve which will see the Minister receive "final substantive advice later in 2024" (per WQ 2257 (2024)), deviating from the "plan to provide the final advice to the Minister of Conservation in 2023" (per DOC's webpage on the Proposed Hākaimangō-Matiatia (Northwest Waiheke) Marine Reserve)?
Hon Tama Potaka: The Department of Conservation advises it is continuing to progress advice. Through the analysis of submissions and objections received the Department has assessed that further engagement with tangata whenua is required. This engagement is in progress and time has been built into the process to allow for this. The Department has advised it is committed to running a robust process prior to providing substantive advice and will update its website timeline accordingly.
