Rt Hon Chris Hipkins to the Minister responsible for Ministerial Services: Have any seconded staff from agencies left Ministers’ offices since 27 November 2023 due to a complaint or concern from the staff member or their home agency, and if so, from which office, on what date(s) and for what reasons?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In any Ministerial office, the number and type or focus of roles may change over time. This can be due to changes in portfolio priorities or can also be at the discretion of the relevant Department or agency that support the Minister to manage their portfolio responsibilities. There are also situations where additional staff are provided on short term basis to cover in instances where there is planned or unplanned leave or to provide surge support. Seconded staff are employed by the respective government agency. Ministerial services do not hold information regarding the reason seconded staff leave an office.
