Rt Hon Chris Hipkins to the Minister responsible for Ministerial Services: How many complaints or concerns, if any, have been made to Ministerial Services between 27 November 2023 and 24 February 2025 regarding the behaviour or conduct of a staff member in a Minister’s office, broken down by month, and Minister concerned?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: I am advised by Ministerial Services that there have been complaints raised relating to the behaviour of one staff member. I do not consider it is in the public interest to provide any further details in relation to this matter. As Minister Responsible for Ministerial Services, I am not involved in any individual employment matters. Employment issues involving individuals working in Ministerial offices are directly managed by Ministerial Services at the Department of Internal Affairs. As is normal in any workplace, sometimes concerns and issues are raised. Ministerial Services has robust processes established so they can address issues appropriately if and when they arise, and ensure staff are well supported.
