7383 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What plans, if any, are in place for the inclusion of a phonics check for year 1-3 students?

Hon Erica Stanford: I intend for a phonics check to be available for schools to use in 2025. I have requested advice from the Ministry of Education regarding phonics checks, including options for implementation and regulation approaches. Announcements will be made in due course.
