7380 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education

Written Question

7380 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What plans, if any, are in place to increase funding for regional/rural schools to implement standardised assessments and regular reporting?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am taking advice on the approach to and timing of consistent, twice-yearly testing for Year 3–8 students, and the accompanying support materials. I do not anticipate any costs associated with assessment tools and regular reporting will be passed on to schools, including regional/rural schools. In addition, allocation of hours in the Term 1 2024 regionally-allocated PLD round has been prioritised towards schools that were already planning to focus their professional learning time on areas that support the shifts in assessment and aromatawai (as well as literacy and NCEA changes already in place). This is also my response to written parliamentary question 7388 (2024).
