7377 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Internal Affairs: What actions (if any) is the minister taking to review the charitable status of The Christian Church Community Trust of Gloriavale?

Hon Brooke van Velden: The regulation of registered charities, such as the Christian Church Community Trust, is undertaken by the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) under the Charities Act 2005 (the Act). The Department’s priority is to regulate registered charities to ensure they meet their obligations under the Act. I am advised that the Department currently has an open investigation into this registered charity and is working closely alongside other agencies as part of a cross-agency group. As such, I am unable to comment further.
