Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: Is the minister confident that all individuals employed at the Gloriavale Christian Community are receiving all of their legal entitlements and benefits, and that all working conditions comply with the law; if not what actions is she taking?

Hon Brooke van Velden: There is an active investigation being led by the Labour Inspectorate. The investigation commenced in January 2024 after the decision in the Pilgrim case, issued by the Employment Court, which identified the employer for the Gloriavale Christian Community. The investigation will establish who the employees are and ensure, where applicable, they are receiving their minimum entitlements. Until the investigation is complete, and the outcome is known, it would be premature for me to comment any further.
