7368 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage: What financial modelling, if any, have the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies undertaken to measure the total cost of redundancies – voluntary or not - resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: A savings target of 7.5 percent was proposed across Vote Arts, Culture and Heritage. Manatū Taonga Ministry for Culture and Heritage have provided me with written briefings and verbal updates as they progressed through the savings proposals work with all entities funded by the Vote. Regarding cost of redundancies, Manatū Taonga has consulted staff on proposals for change to its operating model, including reduced staff numbers. While this is an operational matter, I am advised that no final decisions have been made nor has financial modelling for redundancies been undertaken at this stage.
