7352 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education: Were estimates of the cost of providing additional support to externally provided Ka Ora, Ka Ako lunches conducted in 2024; if so, what were the estimates of providing additional support?

Hon David Seymour: Lunch prices in 2024 were based on the Food Price Index, Labour Cost Index and relevant categories of the Consumer Price Index. These were adjusted based on the overall food inflation and additional support was provided to schools and providers as required. Estimated cost examples include delivery support ($2.02m), small and isolated schools ($1.5m), food verification (250k), and teen parent units and specialist schools (467k). This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 7353 and 7355 (2025).
