Celia Wade-Brown to the Minister of Justice: Subsequent to the Electoral Commission advice on the Electoral Amendment Bill to Select Committee, what further advice reports, briefings, aides-memoire, or any other documents, if any, has the Minister or any member of their Office received regarding the potential effects of closing enrolment before advance voting begins on voter turnout, listed by agency, title and date received?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: Since 6 November 2025, I have received the following two papers from the Ministry of Justice regarding the potential effects of closing enrolment before advance voting begins on voter turnout: • 28 November 2025: Electoral Amendment Bill: House materials • 11 December 2025: OPQ – Electoral Amendment Bill These papers did not provide any updated advice beyond what was provided to the Justice Committee.
