Hon Jan Tinetti to the Associate Minister of Education: What advice, if any, did the associate minister receive from the Ministry of Education suggesting that current qualification requirements for supervisors in early childhood centres drive up costs and make it harder for those centres to operate?
Hon David Seymour: The written advice I received from the Ministry of Education regarding amending the person responsible requirements is listed below by date and title: • 26 February 2024 - Education Report: ECE Regulations – Person(s) responsible and change in service provider identity • 4 March 2024 - Education Report: Cabinet papers for lodging: Changes to ECE legislation (repealing network approval) and changes to ECE regulations (person/responsible and service provider identity • 20 March 2024 – Education Report: Cabinet papers for lodging: Changes to ECE legislation (repealing network approval) and changes to ECE regulations (person/s responsible and service provider identity) • 22 March 2024 – Briefing Note: Talking points for Cabinet papers: Changes to ECE legislation and regulations • 9 April 2024 – Briefing Note: Press Release and Q and A’s; announcement of the intent to repeal network approval provisions and amend person(s) responsible requirements • 17 April 2024 – Education Report: Draft LEG paper regulatory amendments for ECE person(s) responsible This answer does not cover members of my office who receive a large amount of material every week.
