Hon Chris Bishop: As was publicly reported in February 2024, Treasury advice indicated that Kāinga Ora was forecasting the sale of 10,000 homes over the next four years. Kāinga Ora is currently subject to an independent review into its financial situation, procurement, and asset management. It is critical that Kāinga Ora is focused on efficiently building social houses for people in need while also delivering value for taxpayers’ money, and this review will provide recommendations to ensure that these objectives are being met.
