7266 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Housing: Which organisations or stakeholders, if any, has the Minister engaged or consulted with on the Government’s policy to introduce no-cause evictions?

Hon Chris Bishop: Stakeholder views on this issue are well established and have remained consistent since public consultation on changes to the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 in 2018. We continue to hear from many landlords and investors that the removal of 90-day ‘no cause’ terminations disincentivised them from taking a chance on some tenants or pushed them to exit the market all together. Stakeholders will have an opportunity to comment on the Bill at select committee.
