7178 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Further to WPQ 5301 (2026), does his statement that release of the analysis could prejudice the maintenance of the law, including individuals’ rights to a fair trial, indicate that prosecutions are currently underway; if so, how many prosecutions are before the courts, and at what stage are those proceedings?

Hon Chris Bishop: NZTA have advised me that it has no current prosecutions underway. The response to WPQ 5301 (2026) related to NZTA’s current investigation. Any decision to prosecute individuals would be a matter for NZ Police.
