7076 (2024). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: Further to his reply to Question 27909 (2023), what key housing topics, if any, has he discussed with senior Treasury officials since December 2023 and what priorities, if any, did he set?
Hon Chris Bishop: I have engaged with senior Treasury officials on a range of different housing topics, such as the Going for Housing Growth policy, performance of Kainga Ora, and various fiscal matters within the housing portfolio. My top priority is to deliver the Going for Housing Growth policy, which consists of three components: freeing up land inside and at the edge of our cities, improving infrastructure funding and financing, and incentives for communities and Councils to "go for growth." My other housing priorities include improving the rental market, delivering better social housing, and ending the permanent use of emergency housing.
