7065 (2025). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Housing: What is the decision-making process, if any, for deciding to delay Kāinga Ora projects?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that assessments on whether a project under review will proceed or not is led by an internal team. Each project is reviewed against a set of criteria to ensure it meets financial metrics and can be delivered within 2025/26 timeframes. A decision on whether the project proceeds or not is then endorsed by an internal governance group. Where a project does not proceed, Kāinga Ora advises me that it may look to re-work the plans for the site, sell it, or where possible, bring existing homes back into the letting pool.
