7045 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Climate Change: Does the Minister agree with the Climate Change Commission that, "Changing the biogenic methane target from the current range to ‘no additional warming’ and keeping the net zero component of the current target as is would mean higher emissions and an increased amount of warming than the current target"?

Hon Simon Watts: The Climate Change Commission is currently undertaking work to review New Zealand's climate targets, including the methane target. In addition, the government is also reviewing methane targets for consistency with no additional warming. I am awaiting the outcomes of both of those reviews before I form a view on potential changes to the methane target.
