Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the last quarter (September – December 2023) in implementing the recommendation ‘national initiatives to improve outcomes for patients undergoing emergency surgery, and to improve pathways that reduce the rate of emergency surgery’ in the Bowel Cancer Quality Improvement Report 2019?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that as part of the development of the route to diagnosis report, as outlined in response to Written Parliamentary Question 6986 (2024), Cancer Control Agency has been scoping a programme of work aimed at improving primary health care providers access to diagnostics.
