6966 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Tourism and Hospitality: What protections, if any, exist in the Minister's department, if any, to prevent New Zealanders' information shared with US government departments, if any, being shared with third parties?
Hon Louise Upston: As Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, I have no responsibility for any government departments or ministries. With regard to Crown entities under the Tourism and Hospitality portfolio, I am advised that Tourism New Zealand's privacy policy outlines how it collects, stores, uses and discloses any personal information it is provided. Tourism New Zealand also has data sharing agreements in place that outline how any shared data may be used. Tourism New Zealand has an office in the United States. I am advised that it only discloses information to the United States Government as required by law to employ and pay employees in that office.
