6959 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the last quarter (October - December 2023) toward the outcome ‘Increased capability of the workforce around tikanga Māori and cultural safety and how to provide services that are of value to and support Māori whānau’ under ‘Focus area two: Tāngata ora Quality health care and improved journey through the health system for those with rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease’ within the Rheumatic Fever Roadmap?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the October – December 2023 quarter, work was progressed on an update of the New Zealand Guidelines for Acute Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease. This is being led by the University of Auckland, in partnership with the Pū Manawa network. The guidelines are due to be finalised by June 2024 and will inform e-learning modules, culturally safe sore throat and skin infection management for priority groups, and other development opportunities that will improve workforce knowledge and cultural competencies.
