Hon Judith Collins: Crown Law works cooperatively with international counterparts when matters require it, normally for criminal matters. This includes US government departments. These are typically with US Law Enforcement and USDOJ and regarding matters of Extradition or Mutual Assistance. Both are conducted under respective Acts, Extradition Act 1999 and Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 1992. Crown Law is New Zealand's Central Authority for mutual assistance in criminal matters. There are many controls to prevent information held by Crown Law going to any unauthorised external party. Crown Law uses the NZISM as the basis for implementing these controls. The Parliamentary Counsel Office does not share any data, including data about New Zealanders, with any US government department.
