6931 (2024). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: In response to Reply 3442 (2024); What is the average 90th percentile response time broken down by region for March?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I refer the member to the attached tables, which show the 90th and 50th percentile of response times to emergency events broken down by rural/urban policing areas and by police district for the month of March 2024.
Response times are dynamic and are affected by a range of factors such as the number of staff available, population density, and types of calls for service, the event’s distance from an available unit, as well as other events and seasonal factors (including access issues during flooding events).
Police will always prioritise and attend the jobs where peoples’ lives or safety are in danger. Policing by its very nature requires constant prioritisation of resources to respond to emergency demand, which is unpredictable and has peaks and troughs.
