6869 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Māori Development: What protections, if any, exist in the Minister's department, if any, to prevent New Zealanders' information shared with US government departments, if any, being shared with third parties?
Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised by Te Puni Kōkiri that it does not share any New Zealanders' data with U.S. government departments. I am further advised that Te Puni Kōkiri follows the guidance provided by the Government Chief Privacy Officer to ensure that government agencies share information responsibly and legally. Te Puni Kōkiri also adheres to the New Zealand Information Security Manual, which outlines essential processes and controls for safeguarding all New Zealand Government information and systems. This manual is designed for use by New Zealand Government departments, agencies, and organisations, including Crown entities, local government, and private sector organisations.
