6847 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Housing: What asset valuations, if any, have been requested by the Minister or their department, if any, since 27 November 2023, and on what dates, if any?
Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities advises me that Kāinga Ora obtains an annual valuation of its houses, as reported in its Annual Report. The value of other assets is also reported in the Annual Report, either as valued or at a depreciated book value. Kāinga Ora obtains a market valuation to support investment decisions before it purchases homes from the market and for land, and before it divests a house or land. I have not requested any specific asset valuations from Kainga Ora since 27 November 2023. I am advised that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development performs asset valuations in line with public sector accounting standards. Since 27 November 2023, the Ministry has performed three land valuations for inventory held in the Land for Housing programme. All requested valuations have been completed and were as at 30 June 2024. This is also my response to question 6853 (2025).
