Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: Further to 3227 (2026), how many initial teacher education places did Open Polytech | Kuratini Tuwhera apply for School Onsite Training Programme funding for in each of their primary and secondary school programmes, listed by each year they applied?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that the Open Polytech | Kuratini Tuwhera applied for School Onsite Training Programme (SOTP) funding for: • 37 primary places and 84 secondary places for the 2026 academic year. Prior to 2025, SOTP was available only for teacher training in secondary schools and was delivered by two Initial Teacher Education providers only: University of Auckland and University of Waikato
